On August 22, 2024, in a significant move towards entering active politics, Tamil cinema's leading actor Vijay, also the president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, unveiled his party’s official flag and flag song at a ceremony held at the party's headquarters in Panaiyur, Chennai. This event marks a crucial step in Vijay's transition from a celebrated film star to a political leader, setting the stage for his party's entry into Tamil Nadu's political landscape.

The newly introduced flag of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam carries deep symbolic meaning. It is designed with two prominent colors: red and yellow. The red color occupies the top and bottom sections of the flag, while the yellow color takes up the middle portion. At  the center of the flag, a Vaagai flower is prominently displayed, flanked by two trumpeting elephants. The Vaagai flower, historically significant in Tamil culture, was worn by warriors of ancient Tamil kingdoms as a symbol of victory, making it a fitting emblem for the party's ambitions.

Vijay, in a ceremonious gesture, hoisted the flag at the party's headquarters, accompanied by the launch of the party’s official anthem, titled Thamizhan Kodi Parakuthu. This anthem is expected to resonate with the party’s ideals and connect with the Tamil population's cultural roots.
